H5: Setback for Pescarolo Sport
Pescarolo Sport suffered a setback when their two C60s were both lapped by the leading Audi in the space of a few minutes
Emanuele Pirro, at the wheel of his No. 8 R10 TDI, first put a lap on Sebastien Loeb's No. 17, and soon after it was the turn of Erik Comas in the French team's sister car. The latter resisted for a few corners until it was overtaken on the Mulsanne straight.
Furthermore, Comas's pitstop didn't go according to plan, as it seemed the team weren't fully ready for it. His car also did not rejoin the race as soon as expected because it stalled.
Jan Lammers's No. 14 Dome Judd is still in fourth place, followed by Philip Peter's No. 5 Courage in fifth.
Tom Kristensen's Audi No. 7, which earlier suffered fuel injection problems after an engine misfire and rejoined in 13th place, is now in eighth overall, six laps behind the leader sister car.
The No. 12 Courage-Mugen went off into the gravel right after the Dunlop bridge but managed to rejoin.
In sixth overall, and first in the LMP2 class, is the No. 25 MG-Lola driven by Mike Newton, followed by the No. 22 Radical-Judd, with Martin Short at the wheel.
The order in the GT1 class did not change, with Oliver Gavin taking over Jan Magnussen's Corvette No. 64 and still leading in ninth overall, followed by Stephane Ortelli's No. 009 Aston Martin 15 seconds behind.
Cirtek's customer Aston No. 62 is in third place in the hands of David Brabham.
The other works Corvette, John O'Connell in the No. 63, is in seventh place, three laps behind, while the No. 007 Aston Martin, driven by Andrea Piccini, is only tenth, six laps behind the leaders.
The GT2 class is led by Dominik Farnbacher's Porsche No. 83.
The No. 76 Porsche, which had to start from the back of the grid after having been demoted from pole, had an off just after the Arnage corner but managed to rejoin in the hands of Romain Dumas.
