Audi completes 24 Hour driver line-up
Audi has signed Michael Krumm and Marco Werner, completing its driver line-up for this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, which takes place over June 15/16. The German drivers will team up with Austrian Philip Peter to drive a third R8 at the endurance classic
Neither of the new drivers is a sportscar rookie; Werner won the Daytona 24 Hours in 1995, while Krumm has raced at Le Mans twice before.
"To be successful at Le Mans has always been one of my major goals," said Krumm, who drove a limited CART programme in 2001. "With Audi I have a unique chance - I can't wait for June."
Aside from the Krumm/Werner/Peter car, Audi's other 'works' cars will be driven by the winners of the past two Le Mans - Frank Biela, Tom Kristensen and Emanuele Pirro - and Rinaldo Capello, Johnny Herbert and Christian Pescatori. A fourth customer entry from Team Goh will run Japanese drivers Seiji Ara and Hiroki Katoh and four-times winner Yannick Dalmas in a 2001-spec car.
