Magnussen not celebrating just yet

Corvette Racing's Jan Magnussen is satisfied with what looks like a certain GT1 class victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but he is not yet celebrating

The Dane, in the No. 64 C6-R, has inherited the lead from arch-rivals Aston Martin after the No. 009 developed clutch problems with three hours to go.

"I'm very happy," he told autosport.com. "I know it's not over yet: there's still some time to go but we are in the lead now, we can control it, compete at our own pace and see if we can make it to the end."

When asked what was the key moment of the race for himself, Magnussen replied: "Obviously for us when the Aston had a problem.

"But all through the race it's been so close: it's never been more than a lap between the two cars, so it's been pretty hard. Aston developed a problem and that's good for us."

The former F1 driver did sympathise with his rivals, though. "To go from the lead to be sitting in the garage is no fun," he said.
