22h11m Loic Duval in the Oreca #4 Peugeot is clocked just over two minutes behind Kristensen in the #7 Audi. He is circulating a couple of seconds faster per lap, but that is a large gap to close in the time remaining.
22h08m Marc Lieb transfers into that lead #77 Porsche, with Allan Simonsen closing in a little due to the pitstop delay.
22h07m Interestingly, replays of the #9 stop show the mechanic on the left front wheel checking for wobble in the suspension before he changed the tyre.
22h06m Signs that Allan Simonsen in the #89 Ferrari 430 may have a slight speed advantage over the #77 Felbermayr Porsche 997, which currently leads by two laps in the GT2 class.
22h05m Bernhard will plan to run to the finish and he resumes the lead on fresh rubber.
22h04m Timo Bernhard is standing by to take over the leading #9 car as it heads in for a stop.
22h02m Audi #8 has also been in for routine service from second, now unchallenged after the demise of the #1 Peugeot.
22h01m Over in GT2 the #77 Felbermayr Porsche 997 leads, with Wolf Henzler helping the team to establish a two lap lead over the chasing #89 Hankook Ferrari, currently piloted by Allan Simonsen.
22h01m The Oreca #4 Peugeot is in for a stop from fourth on the road. Hugues de Chaunac waves his hand in encouragement to the driver as he sets off in pursuit of the #7 Audi.
21h59m It's definitely all over for the #1 crew, with that valiant fight back ultimately falling victim to another reliability problem.
21h58m As we come into the final two hours of the race, Jonny Kane and the #42 Strakka HPD still lead in the LMP2 class - it's been a hugely impressive race for the squad, who have led for almost the entire race.
21h57m Oreca's Hugues de Chaunac is consoling Peugeot boss Olivier Quesnel, who is distraught at the terminal problem for the final works Peugeot.
21h55m This will soon promote Audi to a one-two-three on the road but the sole remaining 908 - the Oreca #4 - is chasing down the #7 Audi.
21h54m Replays show a lot of smoke from the car as Wurz brought it back to the pits and this does look very similar to the exit of the #2 car earlier this morning.
21h53m AUTOSPORT's pit reporters say the Peugeot team are making no serious efforts to fix the #1 machine and its day appears to be over.
21h52m Pitstop for the #26 car of Tommy Erdos as the team make thier 26th stop of the race - fuel only.
21h51m Oil is dripping from the #1 as it is pushed into the garage and it looks to be the end of the works Peugeot challenge.
21h51m There is more smoke from the #1 and this could be a similar problem to that terminal engine issue for the #2.
21h50m There was a big puff of smoke from the #1 Peugeot and Wurz is cruising back to the pits.
21h50m Two squads hoping simply to finish the race, as the Highcroft Racing Team target a finish following their problems with the #26 car's cooling system, while the #85 Spyker team are preparing to hand over to Peter Dumbreck as they aim for a race finish rather than track position.
21h49m The battle between #1 and #8 over second place is now clocked at seven seconds and Wurz is already pulling away from the leader.
21h45m Lotterer in the #8 Audi is engaged in a battle with the #4 Peugeot and a lot of traffic so Wurz in #1 is closing in on second place once again.
21h42m Wurz has now unlapped himself on the leading #9 car and is now on the lead lap and a similar pitstop schedule.
21h40m In LMP2 Stephane Salini brings the #37 WR Zytek into the pits - the team are ninth out of the ten runners.
21h39m Peter Dumbreck getting ready to go out in the #85 Spyker as the clock nears the final two hours.
21h37m Patrick Pilet in the #76 Porsche 997 comes into the pits now, with his team currently fifth in the GT2 class.
21h36m Wurz is back to third overall after that pitstop on the same lap as the leader but is now just over 15 seconds behind Lotterer in the #8
21h35m Could this be the chance the #95 AF Corse squad have been waiting for - the #97 Porsche 997 is still in the pits and may have a problem. Seven laps separate the two cars.
21h33m The AUTOSPORT team in the pits report that it's all over for the #15 Kolles Audi, which stopped on the circuit in the last hour. It is shown in eighth overall at the moment but has been retired by the team.
21h32m Richard Westbrook pits again in the #97 Porsche 997, moments after stepping into the car...
21h31m Fighting talk from the #78 BMW squad, who are hoping Jorg Muller can mount something of a comeback after 30 minutes of delays.
21h29m Richard Westbrook now out in the #97 BMS Porsche 997, and he joins in a rather quiet third in class - with comfortable distances to the second and fourth-placed cars.
21h29m Wurz in #1 is closing quickly on the Audi, who finds traffic in the form of the #4 Peugeot. This will be Wurz trying to unlap himself in a straight fight, with the cars on similar pitstop patterns.
21h28m The lead pair is down and away and that is a measure of the gap - just over one lap between Audi #9 and Peugeot #1.
21h26m Busy spell in the pitlane now, with the fourth-placed #24 Pescarolo-Judd coming in for a stop. Jacques Nicolet guides the car out onto circuit after a polished stop - the pit crews really have been exceptional this year, some great changes.
21h26m The leader is in for service with Mike Rockenfeller staying in control of the #9. Wurz is also in with the #1.
21h24m The #97 Porsche 997 comes into the pitlane now, Timo Scheider behind the wheel. As the car exits the #40 Ginetta-Zytek comes into the pits.
21h23m At the current rate of progress, #1 is on course to secure second place by the flag but it doesn't have enough pace in hand to catch the leading Audi unless it hits trouble.
21h22m Wurz, now second in the #1, has a few laps to run until his stop but will be pushing on to try and secure an advantage over the #8 Audi.
