7h42m Gene is lowered to the floor and he is away, back into the race but several laps down on the leading #2 entry.
7h42m This drama for Peugeot promotes the #8 and #9 Audis to third and fourth. They are tied together on the circuit.
7h38m Gene is given the signal to climb back into the #1 car. He is being strapped in currently.
7h37m Marc Gene has kept his helmet on while this repair is carried out on the #1 Peugeot. The work would appear to be some way from complete and the car has slipped down the order towards the bottom end of the top ten.
7h35m The #7 Audi is in for a stop with Allan McNish taking over the controls. The Scotsman will no doubt be on a charge now as the Peugeots falter.
7h34m Down in GT2 the battle continues to rage between the Risi Ferrari and the #64 Corvette with just four tenths in it for the class lead.
7h34m The #1 Peugeot remains marooned in the pits as the work continues. Team boss Olivier Quesnel tells Eurosport that the problem is electrical.
7h30m Marc Gene is impatiently watching over the mechanics as they feverishly work around the car. Meantime the #2 Peugeot takes the lead of the race.

7h27m The action has settled down a little following that rash of class-leading pitstops - save for the fact that the GT2 fight between the #82 Ferrari and the #64 Corvette is back on again. The gap is just two seconds.
7h23m Risi passes on the thoughts of Pierre Kaffer as the GT2 lead scrap continues: "It was a great battle with Collard. I have to say it was pretty fair. In 1st part [of the lap] I was quicker, in 2nd part he was quicker"
7h22m The fourth placed GT2 car #77, the Felbermayr Porsche comes into the pits. Richard Lietz stays in the car and he rejoins the race.
7h21m The #25 RML Lola pits from 17th overall and fifth place in LM P2. Thomas Erdos stay on board and he rolls back into the action.
7h20m In LM P2 the #42 Strakka Racing HPD is back in front, to the tune of ten seconds ahead of the Highcroft #26 entry.
7h16m Fuel and tyres for the #1 and Gene heads off into the twilight.
7h16m The leading #1 Peugeot comes into the pits. Alex Wurz climbs out of the car and Marc Gene is strapped in.
7h15m The #82 is in now and there is no driver change. Jaime Melo stays on board and it's fuel only. Out he goes and we'll update shortly where it is in relation to the Corvette.
7h14m The GT2 lead fight has died off for the time being, as we wait for the leading #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari to come into the pits. It enjoys a one minute lead over the #64 Corvette currently, with the #63 Corvette still third.
7h11m The #2 Peugeot now makes a visit to the pits. Nicolas Minassian climbs out and Franck Montagny hops aboard. Fuel and tyres so full service for the second placed car, dropped off the jacks and out he goes.
7h08m Into the pits comes the #6 Oreca AIM with Soheil Ayari handing over to Didier Andre, rejoining in tenth place.
7h06m The #69 JLOC car pits. Following a troubled afternoon featuring a puncture, the Japanese-run entry is last in the GT1 class.
7h04m Mike Rockenfeller comes into the pits from fifth place for routine service. He stays on-board the car and rejoins.
7h03m All eyes are now on the Risi Competizione pits to see when Jaime Melo will bring the class-leading #82 in.
7h03m Oliver Gavin brings the #64 Corvette into the pits for routine service. Also in is the #12 Rebellion Racing car, as Gavin rejoins the circuit.
7h01m Jan Magnussen had in fact been catching the fight for the GT2 lead at a rate of two seconds per lap. The gap between the #63 Corvette to the leaders was 70 seconds prior to that stop.
7h00m Jaime Melo has the gap out to almost one second over the #64, as we see the sister #63 Corvette in the pits for service from third place in class.
6h59m Up front the positions are unchanged and the two Audis are matching the three peugeots on pace, lap after lap, but everyone's attention is fully focused on this epic scrap for the lead in GT2 between the Ferrari and the Corvette.
6h56m Melo fights back immediately and retakes the lead in GT2 at the Mulsanne chicane. So now the #82 Risi Ferrari is back in the lead ahead of the #64 Corvette.
6h55m Now we have the #78 BMW in the pits from eighth place in the ultra-competitive GT2 category. But back on the track we have Oliver Gavin going for it again and he takes the lead in GT2.
6h53m The #7 Audi is in the pits. Dindo Capello stays in the car and resumes in seventh place.
6h52m Oliver Gavin moves the Corvette to the outside of Jaime Melo's Ferrari as the GT2 leaders battle through the second of the Mulsanne chicanes. Order unchanged so far, but you feel that a change is coming.
6h50m The GT2 battle is hotting up once again as Oliver Gavin closes to within 0.6 seconds of Jaime Melo. The #82 Risi Ferrari maintains the lead this time as they pass the pits.
6h47m Marco Werner hands over control to David Brabham in the #26 Highcroft HPD and he goes out to renew the battle with the Strakka #42.
6h46m Mike Rockenfeller is pushing extremely hard in the #9 Audi, as we see the leading LM P2 car, the #26 Highcroft machine, in the pits.
6h44m Oliver Gavin is able to hang on to the shirt tails of the #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari as he keeps the #64 Corvette in range. The gap between the GT2 leaders is now 1.2 seconds.
6h38m In GT1, the #72 Luc Alphand Adventures Corvette comes into the pits. Jerome Policand had the car running in second place, but this allows the #60 Matech Competition entry to pull into a big lead in the category.
6h36m The pair had been battling hard both before the recent safety car period and since. It will be interesting to see if Oliver Gavin can keep the #64 Corvette right there behind the Ferrari.
6h35m While the three Peugeots continue to lead up front, it's all action in GT2 as Jaime Melo gets his #82 Risi Ferrari past the #64 Corvette to take over the lead.
6h31m Alex Wurz brings the leading #1 Peugeot into the pits. Everything seems calm and organised as it rolls back into the action.
