23h19m The leader answers the call of the race director and Marc Gene and the rest of the field head down to Tertre Rouge and the Mulsanne straight once again.
23h18m The safety car comes into the pitlane and we are racing once again.

23h02m The #9 Peugeot car is behind one of the safety cars and the #8 is behind the other. That will dent the recent charge from the second-place car and leaves it with little chance to catch up over half a lap in the time remaining.
23h00m One hour remains in Le Mans 2009 with the field once again under control of the safety car.
22h59m Down at Mulsanne, an army of ACO marshals are laying cement dust down on the track surface to soak up any despoited oil from the #39 car.
22h57m The #39 KSM entry was in seventh position in the LMP1 class. The marshals quickly put out the resulting flash fire as the rear end of the car steamed merrily.
22h55m The #1 Audi R15 has been into the pits under the safety car. Tom Kristensen resumes in third position behind the rapid Peugeots.
22h52m The #33 Speedy Racing Sebah Lola-Judd will take over second place in LMP2, with the Team Goh Spyder comprehensively destroyed in that crash.
22h52m The #39 KSM Lola Mazda pulls into the pits with smoke coming from the rear. Chances are another Mazda engine has expired. The pitlane marshals are dealing with the recovery of the car and pushing it towards the KSM garage.
22h50m Seiji Ara is unhurt after a massive accident in the Goh car, which speared in to the armco barrier under braking for the chicane before smashing in to the tyre barriers.
22h49m The #9 Peugeot reacts to the safety car deployment and Marc Gene is in for service. The race leader enjoys a trouble-free stop and is away again - Gene remains on board.
22h48m The #5 Team Goh Porsche RS Spyder has been crashed heavily at the first Mulsanne chicane.

22h33m The #24 OAK Racing Pescarolo is another Mazda-engined car to face a smokey demise. It has similar symptoms to the other retired cars with heavy smoke from the rear as it pulled out of the pits.
22h30m Matias Russo has got the #78 AF Corse Ferrari back to the pits. The mechanics go to work, investigating the issue that has slowed the car, resulting in a latest lap time of just over six minutes.

22h27m Marc Gene brings the supreme #9 Peugeot leading car into the pits. Fuel and tyres for the Spaniard and he takes the 908 back onto the circuit.
22h24m The #13 is wheeled in to the garage for attention. It is still five laps ahead of the #15 Kolles Audi in ninth.
22h24m The #13 Speedy Racing Sebah Lola-Aston Martin hasn't been all that speedy in recent laps but has made it back in to the pits after a pause on the track and a tour back to the pits.
22h23m The #78 AF Corse car that we just mentioned as third in the GT2 category, is touring slowly on the circuit.
22h20m Emmanuel Collard has been in the pits for another stop in the LMP2-leading Team Essex Porsche RS Spyder.

22h14m The #73 Luc Alphand Aventures Corvette has taken second in GT2, with the #64 Corvette still stranded near the pits with what looks like terminal trouble.
22h13m Fourth is the AMR Eastern Europe Aston Martin #007, with the Oreca AIM #11 entry in fifth with Pedro Lamy sixth in the #7 Peugeot and continuing to close up on the #11 - the gap is down to just over one minute.
22h12m Up front, Peugeot continue to dominate the great race and lead with the #9 car driven by Marc Gene and in second place is the #8 with Sebastien Bourdais at the controls. The gap between them is 1m37s.
The Audi #1 is still in third, six laps down on the French cars. Dindo Capello is in the cockpit.
