7h42m The #7 Peugeot pits on the same lap as the #9 again and similarly there are no issues. Nicolas Minassian resumes still in 11th.
7h41m Marc Gene brings the leading #9 Peugeot into the pits for service. No problems during the stop and the Spaniard is away for another 12 laps.
7h36m Battle continues in LMP2 as Sascha Maassen has closed to within four seconds of the Team Essex car.
7h35m The #7 Peugeot has gained another position and is up to 11th with Nicolas Minassian behind the wheel. The progress will slow down now for the #7 as the gaps up ahead are quite big. For example, the next car ahead is the tenth-placed Speedy Racing Aston Martin - three minutes up the road.

Minassian is closing down the gap at a rate of around five seconds per lap.
7h29m The #8 Peugeot makes a quick stop for fuel with Sebastien Bourdais remaining at the controls of the third-place car as it continues to recover from that problem around 90 minutes ago.
7h27m The #008 Lola-Aston Martin is back underway with Darren Turner staying onboard during that lengthy stop for repairs.
7h25m There are now just seven seconds between LMP2 leaders Team Essex and challengers Team Goh. The pair continue to pit on the same lap in a fantastic battle for the second class win.
7h24m Problems for the #008 Aston have promoted the Kolles cars to sixth and seventh positions, with the Oliver Panis Oreca-AIM in eighth and the garaged #008 Aston in ninth spot.
7h22m The #008 Aston is sliding down the order as the team diagnose a vibration that was caused by that contact with another car.
7h22m The Team Joest #3 Audi has been back in the pits again for further repairs. A much shorter stop this time and Romain Dumas rejoins the race once again.
7h20m David Richard tells Radio Le Mans that the problem for the #008 Aston Martin is due to contact with another car while Darren Turner was at the wheel.
7h19m The LMP2 leading Porsche RS Spyder has been in the pits for a driver change to Casper Elgaard.
7h19m In GT2 the Risi Competizione continues to lead by less than two minutes with Jaime Melo still at the wheel. Patrick Long had passed the Tim Sugden Ferrari for second, but soon afterwards he was in the pits for service.

Sugden regained second in the #92 JMW Motorsport entry, with Long continuing in third in the IMSA Performance Porsche. Long continues to catch the two Ferraris at the rate of two seconds per lap - he has been pulling the gap back at the rate for the last hour. The gap to second place is 60 seconds.
7h18m There is frantic work ongoing around the left front suspension of the #008.
7h17m The developing problem for the #008 Lola-Aston Martin looks increasingly serious as the car is garaged.
7h16m Darkness continues to fall at the circuit with very little natural light now remaining and the headlights ablaze on the circulating cars.
7h15m The #6 LMP1 Team LNT Ginetta is in trouble and has been wheeled back into the garage.
7h14m After a long delay in the pits with a fuel pressure problem, the #3 Audi is finally back out on track in the hands of Romain Dumas. That car is way down the order now in 48th position overall.
7h13m The #007 Lola-Aston Martin has been in for a driver change to Stefan Mucke.

The #008 Lola-Aston Martin is clearly having some kind of problem as Darren Turner has made another stop, taking a replacement nose section.
7h09m Following the latest round of stops for the leading contenders, the current order is as follows:

The #9 Peugeot leads the race in the hands of Marc Gene, one lap ahead of Tom Kristensen in the #1 Audi. Sebastien Bourdais is back up into third place in the #8 Peugeot and is two laps down.

Benoit Treluyer is fourth in the #17 Pescarolo Peugeot with the two Aston Martins - the #007 and the #008 - in fifth and sixth places.

The pair of Kolles Audi R10s are slowly moving up the order thanks to problems for others. They are sixth and eighth sandwiching the #11 Oreca-AIM entry, driven at the moment by Olivier Panis.
7h05m The #008 Lola-Aston Martin has been in the pits for an unscheduled stop but is back underway.
7h04m The sole running Audi R15, second-placed Tom Kristensen, is in for a stop.

The crew make a quick check under the rear bodywork and Kristensen is back underway after a brief stutter.
7h01m Patrice Goueslard was at the wheel of that #72 car, which was third in class before heavy contact with the barriers.
7h00m The #7 Peugeot also came in for a stop on the same lap as the leader. Pedro Lamy stays in for car for another stint and they are up to 12th position now after the retirement of the #2 Audi.
6h59m The #72 Luc Alphand Corvette C6.R has been crashed heavily, with major damage to the front end of that car.
6h59m The leading #9 Peugeot comes into the pits. Alex Wurz climbs out of the car and hands over to Marc Gene. He rejoins still in command of the race.
6h57m The #17 Pescarolo locks up its tyres heavily on the way into the pits. The stop itself goes without a hitch, and Benoit Treluyer rejoins the race.
6h55m Patrick Long takes the Porsche past Tim Sugden for second place in GT2. Jaime Melo is 1m54s up ahead, leading the category for Ferrari.
6h54m In GT2 there is a battle for second place behind the leading Risi Competizione car. We reported earlier that Patrick Long was leading the Porsche fightback in the IMSA Performance machine. That challenge has continued and he has caught Tim Sugden in the #92 JMW Motorsport Ferrari F340.
6h54m Emmanuel Collard at the wheel of Team Essex #31 is now over 30 seconds ahead of the Team Goh entry in the LMP2 scrap. That gap will close when Team Essex make their next driver change.
6h51m Sebastien Bourdais brings the #8 Peugeot in to the pits from third position. He drops down the order to fifth behind the #17 Pescarolo Peugeot and the #008 Aston Martin.
6h49m Anthony Davidson pits in the #008 Lola-Aston Martin, handing over to Darren Turner.

The #17 Pescarolo Peugeot had slipped by that car on the last lap.
6h48m Audi have undoubtedly taken a severe hit in the last hour. Aside from the problems for the #2 Luhr car, we have been keeping track of the #3 Audi which has been in the pits for some time, with a fuel pressure problem.

The Team Joest crew are still working on the car in the garage.
6h47m Lucas Luhr has stepped out of his stranded #2 Audi and in to retirement, having been prevented by the marshals from making an attempt to return the heavily damaged Audi to the pits.
6h44m Davidson is in a hurry in the #008 as the recovering #17 Pescarolo Peugeot is closing in fast in a battle for fourth.
6h41m Anthony Davidson in the #008 Lola-Aston Martin has just put a lap on the #007 driven by Jan Charouz.
6h40m While the drama continues up front, a little further down the order, the #7 Peugeot has been quietly making up places. Pedro Lamy has hauled the works 908 up into 13th position, and that will become 12th in the next ten minutes if Lucas Luhr cannot move his stranded #2 Audi.
6h38m Audi refuse to give in and Lucas Luhr continues to try and get the battered #2 moving, so he can try and bring it back to the pits. There is a lot of confusion as the marshals are trying to prevent the damaged car from rejoining the track.
6h35m A couple of laps ago Sebastien Bourdais passed the Pescarolo Peugeot and the #008 Aston Martin in quick succession. With the problems that are now affecting Luhr in the #2 Audi, Bourdais and the #8 are suddenly back in the top three within the space of 35 minutes.
