So, we're back to the correct order of things in LMP2. Piquet leads in the #13 Rebellion ORECA by 8s ahead of the #31 Rebellion ORECA of Senna. In third is Jarvis in the Jota-run #38 Jackie Chan DC ORECA. Those three are currently in a class of their own up front.
Sorensen is flying now - he's just done a 3m52.848s in the #95 Aston and is just 18.7s behind Harry Tincknell's second-placed #67 Ford. Serra still 17.8 seconds further up the road in the leading #97 Aston. It's a remarkable recovery from that earlier puncture for the #95 car, albeit one aided by the proliferation of incidents and slow zones in the opening hours.
Remember the incident when Vaxiviere in the #28 TDS Oreca wiped out the #82 Risi Ferrari of Kaffer? Here's what Vaxiviere had to say about it: "When I passed the Ferrari, I really thought that he was going to break much earlier and that's why I came back on him that early. I am sorry. It's my fault, I apologise to Pierre Kaffer and to Risi Competizione and also to my team for the hard penalty we got."
The leading Toyota has just been reported to the officials for allegedly passing a car under yellow flags. If it gets any form of penalty it will lose the lead.
That last tour for Conway in the lead Toyota was a slow one and second-placed Jani has just gained five seconds on him. The gaps is now 33s.
It's a tribute to the strong field we have in GTE Pro this year that as we close in on midnight, 11 cars are still on the lead lap and theoretically in contention for the class win.
Work still going on in the Toyota garage to get the #8 back in the race:
As Buemi remains in the pits, the #8 Toyota has now dropped nine laps behind the leading #7 car. But that is still another 10 laps ahead of the #2 Porsche at this point.
Piquet Jr brings the #13 Rebellion into the pits and heads back out again. That allows the #38 Jackie Chan DC Racing ORECA that is gradually climbing back into contention into a temporary lead.
One of the cars that suffered problems earlier in the race was the #2 Porsche. After its front-axle drive issue it is now running much better and has climbed to 34th place.
Meanwhile, a brief change in order out on the circuit: Michael Christensen (#92 Porsche) mugged Harry Tincknell (#67 Ford) for second place before pitting at the end of the lap.
One of the less heralded entries in the class, the #40 Graff ORECA, is having a good run. Allen currently runs sixth in that car.
Senna has made his stop in the #31 Rebellion and slips to third place. That puts Jarvis in the #38 Jackie Chan DC ORECA up to second temporarily.
Remarkably quick service from the Corvette Racing crew sent the #64 car out within minutes of being pushed back into the garage - it got going again 10 minutes after the turn of the hour, but it's lost four laps.
Buemi remains in the pits and as a result has now dropped to sixth behind three LMP2 cars on the leaderboard.
Senna is still gaining on Piquet, the gap is down to 7.7s now.
While Buemi remains in the pits, all top three have all made scheduled visits.
Piquet Jr's advantage in the #13 Rebellion ORECA is now down to 9.3s over the sister #31 car of Senna.
With Buemi's problem, we now have just two cars on the lead lap as the third-placed Toyota is well over a lap behind. The #9 car's race got off to a difficult start with the damage following the ByKolles crash and then had to make an extra stop because the driver's door wasn't closed properly. It has also lost significant chunks of time through the multiple slow zones we've had in recent hours.
Toyota report that is a front motor issue with the #8 car.
Panciatici brings the #35 Signatech ORECA into the pits.
So for the first time in this race there has been a significant problem for Toyota. But will this prove to be the first of many?
But the #64 Corvette has a problem still, he has spun again while trying to get back to the pits and got stuck in the pit entry gravel.
The #64 Chevrolet Corvette of Milner is off at the Porsche Curves. He spun and tagged the wall. He's got going again.
Buemi had been in deep conversation with his team on the radio for a few laps - he was convinced there was a problem but Toyota couldn't find anything at first. When he was finally called in with a problem, he furiously responded with "I told you! I told you!".
The car is now in the garage but there is still smoke coming off of them. Jani is now up to second 35s behind Conway.
The #38 Jackie Chan DC ORECA pits from the LMP2 lead, with Piquet Jr taking first place in the #13 Rebellion ORECA.
The gap between the two Rebellion ORECAs is now 22.340s in favour of the #13 car of Piquet Jr. They run second and third, but will move up to first and second when Jarvis in the leading #38 Jackie Chan DC ORECA pits.
This means the #38 Jackie Chan DC ORECA of Jarvis is now in the lead. That car was last up front in the first hour. But it will pit shortly.
The #13 Rebellion ORECA of Piquet comes in for its 12th stop from the lead.
That double-stop sequence for the #31 Rebellion ORECA all makes sense. The first was its drive-through for overtaking in a slow zone and the second was a scheduled stop. It was a nine-lap stint as usual.
