Marc Marquez would be happy to take MotoGP title without more wins

With five grands prix remaining, Marquez holds a 43-point lead over Valentino Rossi, with the Italian's Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo a further 18 behind in third.

Before the Czech Grand Prix last month, Marquez said he felt he would need to win two more races to cement his title hopes.

While he has not added to his tally of three for the season since, and finished behind Rossi in each race, Marquez's still-healthy margin means his focus has shifted.

"Now I also say that if I win the title without winning more races, for me it's OK," he said at Aragon on Thursday.

"We need to manage this, to work hard and we know that [Aragon] is a good circuit for us.

"We know that Phillip Island and Valencia [are too]. But this year, you never know.

"With the tyres, the feeling with the bike and the electronics side, you can win by 10 seconds or you can finish 10 seconds behind the leader.

"It's really open. [It's important to be] consistent, to try to be in every practice, qualifying and race in the top three."

That eight different riders have won the last eight races has helped Marquez's title chances, and the top three in the championship are the only multiple victors.

Marquez and Lorenzo have three wins apiece and Rossi two, but the Spaniard said finishing at the top of that tally "doesn't matter", and that he will aim to stick with his new-for-2016 mental approach.

In his two title-winning seasons, Marquez won six races in 2013 and was rampant in taking 13 a year later, before winning five to eventual champion Lorenzo's seven last season.

"What I learned last year is that when we start the new season, people remember who won the title, not who won more races or took more podiums or whatever," he said.

"In the end, my target is the title and I'm working for this.

"If I need to finish fourth, like at Misano, I will do it. But if I can win, and have the chance to take a risk, I will, like I did at Silverstone.

"It depends how we feel on the bike, how we can manage.

"Also I have a small advantage that if I do some mistakes, I am still there in the championship.

"If the other riders make a mistake, they will lose many points and they will be even further behind."
