Faulkner fastest in EFPA opener

Damien Faulkner will start the first ever round of the new European Formula Palmer Audi series from pole position

The Irishman, who has competed in the British-based FPA championship since its inception in 1998, is joined on the front row at Donington Park by compatriot Tim Mullen.

Top Palmer Audi rookie is Finn Miku Santavirta, the ex-Formula Three driver on the inside of row two.

Several highly-rated drivers have qualified badly however and will have to come through the field. Former Formula Ford champion Jacky van der Ende is only tenth on the grid, heading a five-car group of disappointed star runners: Derek Hayes, Robbie Kerr, Paul Edwards and Richard Tarling.
