Yeley takes Talladega Busch pole

J.J. Yeley was comfortably fastest in qualifying for Saturday's Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series race at Talladega

Although qualifying positions will be of little relevance once the frenetic pack racing commences around the Alabama superspeedway, Yeley's 0.211 second margin over second placed Clint Bowyer was a relatively large advantage in the very tightly packed field.

Denny Hamlin was third quickest, ahead of Danny O'Quinn and former series champion Brian Vickers.

Current points leader Kevin Harvick will start from a relatively lowly 19th place, two places behind NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart.

Double Busch champion Martin Truex Jr is making his first series appearance of the season at Talladega, and is hoping to secure a third consecutive Busch win at the track. He will start from 12th position.

Champ Car star Paul Tracy's difficult NASCAR programme continued, as he qualified his Chevrolet only 37th.
