Wallace again in at Roush
Kenny Wallace will again substitute for the ousted Kurt Busch at the NASCAR Nextel Cup season finale at Homestead this weekend
Wallace will drive the No. 97 Ford for Roush Racing in Miami, after the eleventh-hour call up to race the car at Phoenix last weekend, when team owner Jack Roush suspended defending champion Busch following a police charge of reckless driving.
"Jack Roush gave me more confidence today than I've had in a long time," Wallace told NASCAR.com. "He told me, 'We put you in a no-win situation. You had one chance to do good, and two chances to do wrong. We're thankful for the job you did."
The Busch series driver was still at Phoenix as a TV analyst and he finished a creditable 16th, on the same lap as winner Kyle Busch.
"Not many people get the chance," he added. "I just have to capitalise on it. It's all about timing. I'd like to say for never sitting my butt in this race car that I thought we did really good. Sixteenth is pretty good."
