Villeneuve confirms split with Pollock
Jacques Villeneuve confirmed his split with manager Craig Pollock, but paid tribute to his long-standing friend
The 1997 Formula One world champion said: "He has stuck with me through the good times and the bad, and I have a lot to thank him for.
"We have been good friends for most of my life and that doesn't just go away. We will remain good friends."
Villeneuve will race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup this season, while Pollock wants to concentrate on his young family and business opportunities in Europe.
"A lot has changed in recent years," said Villeneuve. "I'm older and no longer need a manager to perform the duties that Craig covered, and now that I'm married I'm more reliant on my wife."
Pollock added: "I've always believed in Jacques and we've had a fantastic time together. NASCAR is a new challenge for him and, even though I won't be with him, I will follow his new adventure."
Villeneuve's season will kick off with the Daytona 500 in three weeks.
