Skinner on pole for Winston Open

A very 'appropriate' duo of sponsors will fill the front row on Saturday night when the green flag drops for the Winston Open at Lowe's Motor

Speedway.
In No Bull 25 #1, Mike Skinner grabbed the lead from polesitter Steve Park on
the second lap and put the #31 Lowe's Chevy out in front and dominated the
remaining 23 circuits, even slowing on purpose as the laps wound down. As
Skinner crossed the line with the checkers flying, runnerup Jimmy Spencer was
some 5 seconds behind. Ken Schrader, Brett Bodine and David Green filled the
top-5. Park's car evidently had some mechanical problems and he wound up 11th.

The No Bull 25 #2 was nearly a mirror image runaway with a different home
improvement company in control. Rookie contender Tony Stewart, whose IRL car
was parked today, started on the pole and never really faced a challenge --
leading all 25 laps for the win over Wally Dallenbach by nearly five seconds.

The remainder of the top-five finishers were Kenny Irwin, Kevin LePage and
Chad Little.

Stewart will take flight tomorrow for Indianapolis and qualifying for the Indy
500. He will then return to Concord for the Winston Open.
