Schrader Docked 25 Points

Veteran NASCAR racer Ken Schrader has been docked 25 points after officials found that the roof of his Dodge was too low following last weekend's GFS Marketplace 400 at Michigan

The 50 year-old three-time Daytona 500 polesitter finished 25th in the event and is out of contention for the Chase for the Champions, having only secured three top ten finishes in 23 races so far this season. The reduction drops him from 29th to 31st in the standings.

In addition to Schrader's points loss, the car's owner Beth Ann Morgenthau was also penalized the same amount of owner points, and crew chief David Hyder has been fined $25,000 and placed on probation until December 31.

A NASCAR statement read: "The penalties were issued because of a roof height that was too low, a violation of Section 12-4-A (Actions detrimental to stock car racing), and Section 12-4-Q (car, parts, components and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform to NASCAR rules) of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series rule book."
