Sadler looks ahead to 2000 success
Elliott Sadler is hoping for a fruitful 2000 in the Winston Cup following a tough season last term
Sadler is the first to admit he wasn't sure what to expect in 1999.
However, with one full year under his belt, Sadler will be much more prepared for 2000.
"I know what to expect this year," Sadler said.
"Last year was really tough for me mentally. This year I'm starting with a clean slate. I can afford to be more aggressive and the fans can expect the return of Elliott Sadler's driving style from the Busch Series."
Sadler's driving style earned him an impressive record in NASCAR's junior circuit, and his reputation from the series is the main reason why Sadler was chosen to drive for the famed Wood Brothers team.
In his first 76 starts in the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division, Sadler won five times.
Sadler is aiming for a top-15 in the overall standings in 2000.
He believes it will be achieved if they can continue to improve their race set ups.
"We had good race cars last year and the cars I've tested this year are even better," he said.
"The handling is definitely there. We're going to improve our qualifying program and put ourselves in a better position to run up front.
"We've proven that when we get up front, we stay up front. But, it's tough to get there if you have to start in the rear of the field. 2000 is going to be a big year for me and the Wood Brothers team."
