Rookie Stewart takes second pole
NASCAR Winston Cup series rookie Tony Stewart will start from pole for the second time this season at Bristol tomorrow
The former Indy Racing League star beat the Wallace siblings Rusty and Kenny to pole around the tight confines of the 0.5-mile banked oval.
'I'm not sure if I would call it a perfect lap, but it was going enough to get the pole,' Stewart said of his qualifying effort.
'To win the pole here is great. This is one track where you hear a lot of drivers talk about track position and it seems like you get into lapped traffic real early here.'
Jeff Gordon will start fourth, with series leader Dale Jarrett back in 25th but only 0.1s from pole around the ultra-short track.
