Riggs tops 186mph mark

Scott Riggs became only the second driver in the two weeks of Daytona testing to break the 186mph barrier when he led the way on the second day of running

Riggs tops 186mph mark

After being overshadowed by Joe Nemechek in the morning session, Riggs put in his performance during the afternoon session with a best lap of 48.362s, just behind Dale Jarrett's benchmark lap from last week of 48.269s.

The second week of running of the Daytona test is already having its affect on some of the big stars, who have hinted at boredom from making the necessary solo runs. That is perhaps why Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick have skipped the test completely.

"The test isn't something I usually look forward to at Daytona because it's kind of long and we don't really do much," said Matt Kenseth, a regular in the top 10. "With all the new rules, we just kind of run around. I think it's more for the media and the fans, really, than it is for us.

"I don't really look forward to the Daytona tests, except that I look forward to them being over because that means we can go test tracks where we can work on stuff and try stuff like the Vegas and California tests. We'll learn much more and have a much better idea of the year."
