McMurray Set to Replace Martin
Jamie McMurray is set to be announced as the long-term replacement for veteran Mark Martin at Roush Racing
The 29-year-old will join Roush to drive the Number 6 car in 2007 in a multi-year deal, after serving out his contract at Chip Ganassi Racing.
McMurray burst onto the NASCAR scene by winning only in his second Cup race in 2002 at Lowes Motorspeedway in 2002, when substituting for the injured Sterling Marlin.
Roush are expected to make a formal announcement shortly on the deal, and whether there will be an interim driver for the car in 2006. Current Number 6 pilot Martin will retire from NASCAR Nextel Cup Racing at the end of the season.
Ganassi said: "Jamie's made a decision to go in another direction after we've both fulfilled the commitment that we made to each other in 2002.
"We didn't do a good job of conveying to Jamie where this team is headed, but we expect a lot of success with Jamie the rest of this year and next year."
