Mark Green Wins Myrtle Beach 250

Jeff Green's second win of the season was a surprise to everyone at Myrtle Beach Speedway on last night, including his crew

Green had been running a solid second to team-mate Jason Keller, and for all intents and purposes, it appeared the two would finish in that order.

With just two laps remaining, Keller made a pass on the lapped car of Phil Parsons and cut down a tyre, which handed the lead to Green along with the victory in the Myrtle Beach 250.

Keller wound up with a top-10 finish, eighth and still on the lead lap, without the trip to Victory Lane that was looking like a 'given.'

Randy LaJoie, the defending racewinner, started on the outside of the front row and led for a while until Keller and then Green moved him back to third.

When Keller's luck soured, LaJoie found himself in the runner-up position and crossed the line ahead of Matt Kenseth.

Dale Earnhardt Jnr, who won the Bud Pole just hours before the green flag waved for the start, suffered problems throughout the evening and finished three laps down, in 25th.

With Kenseth's third place finish, Earnhardt's lead in the championship points standings was reduced to just 62 in the unofficial calculations.

Earnhardt was 139 ahead going into Myrtle Beach. Shane Hall, Brad Loney, Todd Bodine, Elton Sawyer, Keller, Parsons and Jeff Purvis rounded out the top-10 finishers.
