Kvapil told to seek other drive
Travis Kvapil has been told by Penske Racing that he should seek an alternative drive next season after the canning of his #77 Kodak Dodge programme
Penske ran the third car for rookie Kvapil last season to regular runners Ryan Newman and the retiring Rusty Wallace, however Kvapil's results did not match his teammates', who both made the Chase for the Championship.
Kvapil, who was contracted to Penske for 2006, finished 33rd in this year's NASCAR Nextel Cup standings, with only two top-10 finishes all season.
"I want to thank Travis for what he has provided to Penske-Jasper Racing during this year," said Roger Penske. "Travis is a talented driver and an excellent ambassador for our team and our sponsors. While it is unfortunate that we will not field the Kodak Dodge in 2006, I am confident that Travis will find the opportunity to drive another car next year."
The move follows the withdrawal of sponsorship from Kvapil's primary backers, the Eastman Kodak Company, which has posted hefty losses this fiscal year. The company which will continue as an associate sponsor on the number 2 car with Kurt Busch Dodge, and intends to re-enter the No. 77 Kodak Dodge in the 2007 season.
