Gatorade 1: Robby G robs Green
Robby Gordon won the opening Gatorade 125 qualifying race for Sunday's Daytona 500, after overcoming longtime race leader - and 500 pole sitter - Jeff Green in the pits
Gordon and Green pitted on lap 31, but the proximity of Jeff Burton, directly in front of Green's pit box, aided Gordon to exit pit lane first.
Green finished second, ahead of Ricky Rudd, Sterling Marlin and Jeff Burton, the latter finishing fifth from 23rd on the grid. His brother Ward, last year's 500 winner, finished ninth. Four-time champion Jeff Gordon was another mover in the race, finishing seventh from 15th on the grid.
Casey Mears crossed the line in 15th to secure the final starting spot for Sunday's big race. The biggest names in jeopardy of missing the race are Brett Bodine, David Green and Larry Foyt.
