Daytona grid complete
The grid for the Daytona 500 has now been completed, following Thursday's two Gatorade Duels that decided the order behind the front-row. Those positions had been secured by Dale Jarrett and Jimmie Johnson in qualifying
The remaining positions were made up of the rest of the top 35 points scoring cars, in the order they finished the heats, plus the best two finishers from each duel and the four fastest remaining qualifying drivers.
The added drivers were Mike Skinner and Kenny Wallace from the first Duel, with Kevin Lepage and Martin Truex qualifying from the second Duel. The speed qualifiers were Jason Leffler, Boris Said, John Andretti and Mike Wallace.
The biggest shock amongst the non-qualifiers was undoubtedly Robby Gordon, who failed to make the cut by one position in his entry as driver-team owner.
"It sounds crazy that a team as good as we are is going home," Gordon said. "That's why it's big-time racing. That's why so many teams try to be here, but to be honest, not that many teams are in Nextel Cup and (NASCAR) makes it very difficult to start new teams."
