Bristol qualifying rained off
Persistent rain in Bristol has forced the cancellation of qualifying for the Food City 500, round five of the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup
Practice had already been abandoned because of the poor weather, and with the track remaining awash this afternoon, the starting order for Sunday's race will be determined by car owner points.
This means that reigning champion Tony Stewart will line up on pole position, with Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, Mark Martin and current drivers' standings leader Jimmie Johnson completing the top five.
Today's weather problems come less than a week after rain led to the Atlanta race being rescheduled from Sunday to Monday afternoon.
