Strakka focussed on 'home' win

AUTOSPORT 1000km LMP2 poleman Danny Watts says that his Strakka Racing is determined to end its season on a high, regardless of its points battle with the rival RML team

Watts, who crashed in free practice before taking a dominant class pole, said that with Silverstone being Strakka's home race, the team is focussed on another victory.

"It's quite a big weekend for us. It's our home race and our workshop is just a field away! We want to work hard at winning our home race, ultimately we are 13 points away from the RML team in the table therefore we have an outside chance of winning [the title].

"We really need them to have some bad luck, but obviously we don't want to wish that on them.

"We just want to win our home race, and we've ticked the box of qualifying on pole. So far so good."

The race is expected to be run in dry conditions, but Watts added that the Acura, which will start the event with Jonny Kane at the wheel, has been strong in all the conditions Silverstone has thrown at the field.

"Whatever happens to the weather I think we are in good shape, wet, damp or dry," he said. "The Michelin tyres have been excellent all weekend."
