Valentino Rossi: Penalty for Marc Marquez MotoGP clash unfair

Rossi accused Marquez of deliberately trying to cause him problems in the last race in Australia, and the pair were locked in combat again seven days later at Sepang.

Marquez eventually crashed after Rossi pushed him wide, and race directors gave Rossi three licence penalty points, resulting in him having to start the championship-deciding race at Valencia from the back of the grid.

"For me it is not fair, because like this, Marquez wins his fight," said Rossi, who leads Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo by seven points heading into the final round.

"His programme is OK because he made me lose the championship.

"The sanction is not good because I don't want to make him crash purposefully, I just reacted to his behaviour.

"For me this is unfair; I just want to fight for the championship with Jorge and the better man win. Like this it doesn't happen."

Rossi clearly looked over at Marquez just before they made contact at Turn 14, and he said he was trying to communicate with the Honda rider.

"I don't want to make him crash, I just want to make him lose time," Rossi added.

"This time, a lot worse than in Australia, he make his dirty game, no?

"When I go wide, I slow down, we almost stop and I look at him to say, "Fuck, what the fuck are you doing?

"Unfortunately I lose a lot of time with Marc because he just rides to cause me problems.

"It's a shame because I think in a normal race we can stay and fight with Jorge and we lost some more points.

"In Valencia it will be difficult."

Rossi appealed the decision by the stewards, but it was unanimously rejected by FIM officials.
