Tank Slappers Podcast: The implications of Marquez's latest surgery

Marc Marquez's announcement that he will be going for more surgery on his right arm was the main talking point from the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix.

Marc Marquez, Repsol Honda Team

Badly breaking his right arm in a crash at Jerez in 2020, Marquez has struggled ever since his return to racing in April of 2021 and will go to America this week to have a fourth major operation on his right humerus.

It is hoped it will finally allow Marquez to return to his former glory, but regardless was necessary for him to continue racing at all, with Marquez admitting he had lost his enjoyment for it in his current condition.

PLUS: The human importance of Marquez’s latest enforced MotoGP absence

In the latest Tank Slappers Podcast, Autosport's Lewis Duncan and Motorsport.com's Oriol Puigdemont discuss Marquez's surgery news.

They also look at why Fabio Quartararo emerged from the Mugello round as the true winner after a stunning run to second on his underpowered Yamaha, and assess Aprilia's credentials as title challengers.

Finally, they ponder the latest rider market rumours and how things might shake up in the shaping of the 2023 MotoGP grid.
