Pedrosa tops final Mugello practice

Repsol Honda's Daniel Pedrosa set the fastest time in the third and final free practice session ahead of the Italian Motorcycling Grand Prix at Mugello

With a time of 1:49.975, the Spaniard was the only rider breaking the one minute 50 seconds barrier.

After yesterday's wet practice running, today's session started out dry but more rain came briefly around the 15-minutes mark. However, the track was able to dry out and the fastest times were set at the end of the session.

Reigning champion Casey Stoner was second fastest with his Ducati Marlboro, 0.389 seconds behind Pedrosa and 0.163 ahead of Rizla Suzuki's Loris Capirossi.

Honda Gresini's Alex de Angelis was fourth fastest, followed by Tech 3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards and Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi.

The Italian, who on Sunday will try to win for the seventh consecutive time at Mugello in front of his home crowd, ended up over nine tenths slower than Pedrosa.

Shinya Nakano was seventh fastest with his Honda Gresini, Alice Team Ducati's Sylvain Guintoli was eighth, Kawasaki's John Hopkins ninth, and Repsol Honda's Nicky Hayden tenth.
