Marc Marquez has no flaws, say Jorge Lorenzo and MotoGP rivals

MotoGP's record-breaking 2013 champion Marc Marquez is a "special" talent with no major weaknesses, according to his rivals

The 2012 Moto2 title winner enjoyed a phenomenal rookie season in grand prix motorcycling's premier class, winning six races and finishing on the podium 16 times in 18 races.

His chief opponent for this year's crown - outgoing champion Jorge Lorenzo - believes that while Marquez's talent was undeniable, his desire to win was also one of his key assets.

"His strongest point is either his talent or his ambition," said the Yamaha rider. "He always wants to be in front, so you can't relax.

"He has not so many weak points - they are very small, you can't say they are weak points."

Seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi believes history will ensure the young Spaniard is rightly remembered for an "unbelievable" rookie triumph.

"All this year Marc did something unbelievable, something special," he said.

"It's something people will remember for the history of MotoGP because he won the championship as a rookie.

"He did a great, great job."

Honda's Dani Pedrosa agreed that team-mate Marquez's ferocity on track was a major asset, and added that apart from experience there was little to criticise about the 20-year-old.

"The will of Marc, together with his talent, is a good weapon for MotoGP," he said.

"He showed very well every race, but of course he rides on the limit.

"He seems like he is crashing all the time, but he is controlling that.

"His weak point is experience...that's pretty much all I can say."
