Lorenzo: Winning will still be difficult

Jorge Lorenzo believes that it will be difficult for him to win tomorrow's Spanish MotoGP, despite taking pole position by a commanding 0.6 seconds at Jerez

The double 250cc champion followed his debut pole at Losail last month with another dominant qualifying run for his home grand prix, breaking the qualifying lap record as he secured the top spot ahead of countryman Dani Pedrosa.

But the factory Yamaha rider believes fellow front row qualifiers Pedrosa and Colin Edwards will be tough to beat in the race, and that his teammate Valentino Rossi and even 13th-placed Andrea Dovizioso will be in contention.

"It will be very complicated to win tomorrow, because not just Dani, but also Valentino and Andrea, and also Colin can do a good race," Lorenzo told Italia1 television. "They have the pace to stay with me."

Lorenzo admitted that the Yamaha and Michelin package was very strong at Jerez, but emphasised that he had to make the most of his opportunity.

"We are quick and we took the right opportunity, because when you're quick you can't always take advantage of it," he added. "There are always difficulties and on another track we might not have gone this quick."

He added that he was keeping his feet on the ground despite the incredible start to his MotoGP career, and was not under-estimating the established riders.

"I'm a guy who wants to become the greatest, but here there are many riders like Pedrosa and Valentino who are still very strong," Lorenzo said.

The Spaniard finished second on his MotoGP debut in Qatar three weeks ago.
