Jack Miller to jump from Moto3 to MotoGP with LCR Honda in 2015

Amid a breakthrough season in Moto3 - which he currently leads nine points ahead of Marc Marquez's younger brother Alex - the 19-year-old Australian has been tipped as a star of the future by Honda.

Miller will be joining the Ducati-departing Cal Crutchlow at LCR Honda next season and becomes the first rider to move from the lowest grand prix class to MotoGP since Leon Haslam in 2001.

"I am very happy to make the leap up to MotoGP next year, especially because I will do so alongside HRC," said Miller.

"It's a dream come true; I think that every rider would like to race at the highest level in the world championship with Honda.

"It is certainly a big jump from Moto3 to MotoGP, but I am convinced that we are ready and that, step-by-step, learning every day, we can do a great job."

LCR team boss Lucio Cecchinello added: "Without doubt this is a very exciting project and a completely new challenge for us.

"We do believe that Jack will be a future strong performer in the premier class due to his undeniable talent, motivation and driver.

"For sure he will need time to learn how to ride a 1000cc machine but there is no rush, and next year will just be a learning season for him in the class."

Miller is expected to work with crew chief Cristian Gabbarini, who was Casey Stoner's chief engineer at Ducati and Honda between 2007 and '12. Stoner also spent his first MotoGP season at LCR.

Miller was involved in a contract row earlier this season when the Marc VDS team insisted it had a binding deal to run him in Moto2 in 2015, which he disputed.
