Dani Pedrosa says Dutch TT defeat is his own fault

The Honda duo dominated the race, with Pedrosa leading Stoner until the Australian got through on lap 16 of 26.

Pedrosa was sure he was fast enough to have won if he had managed the race better.

"I tried my best," said Pedrosa. "I believed I had good pace in practice, so even though Casey was following me, I tried to focus on my riding.

"I believe I used much more energy when I was running in front and I believe by the end he saw I was having some issues with energy.

"Then when he got past me I tried to follow him but in one change of direction I almost went off the track - almost completely off. So I lost a lot of ground there.

"Then I tried to pull it back but I wasn't really there for the victory at the end.

"It's not the best result but I think we have to take the positive things. I think today it was a little bit my fault towards the end. I will try my best in the next race and try to get a good result again."

Although Pedrosa has still not won a race in 2012, his sixth podium finish of the season keeps him in title contention, 19 points behind leaders Jorge Lorenzo and Stoner.
