Casey Stoner pleased to show Misano issues were a one-off by dominating Aragon

The MotoGP championship leader's streak of victories was interrupted in the San Marino GP a fortnight ago when he suffered from fatigue in the race and dropped back to third place.

But he proved that was just a blip today by blitzing the field at Motorland Aragon and stretching his championship lead to 44 points with four rounds to go.

"We knew we had a good chance at Misano to get on the top step - the bike was fantastic but there was no way I could stay with Jorge [Lorenzo] or Dani [Pedrosa], I was struggling to keep myself on the bike for the last part," Stoner admitted.

"But this weekend we've had no such problems. We knew I was just tired at the last one, so we trained hard this weekend."

He said his Honda had been exceptional from the outset at Aragon, despite changing weather conditions and the disruption caused by the cancellation of Friday's second practice session due to a power failure at the circuit.

"Everything's been really good from the start," Stoner said. "The bike's been fantastic out of the box.

"We changed a little bit because we only got one afternoon session and the track conditions were a little different. We managed to find a pretty good set-up for it, but then today it came out as a lot colder. The wind's a lot stronger and we changed the screen on my bike to get a little bit lower and be better in the wind. Just a few things.

"In general the bike worked really well for us today. I didn't get the best start but we managed to work our way through and have a fantastic race.

"I can't thank the team enough. They've been fantastic all year. Pretty much every time I turn up at the track, we're on the pace. There have been a few races this year where we've struggled and I'm very, very happy to come away with the win today."
