Capirossi looking for strong race pace

Loris Capirossi is hoping he and his Rizla Suzuki team can make the bike competitive over a race distance after setting the second fastest time in practice at Barcelona today

The MotoGP veteran has shown good pace and qualified well so far this season, but is eager to develop the Suzuki's GSV-R to be strong over a full race distance.

"We know that our rhythm when the bike is good is very good, but we have to make the bike go as well at the end of a race distance as it does at the start," he said.

"When the tyres are new we can set some good times but as it drops off we struggle a bit. But we have a good idea for tomorrow and we'll try to modify the chassis to stop this happening."

But Capirossi was again encouraged by the pace of the Suzuki as he was just 0.006 seconds behind pace setter Dani Pedrosa's Honda.

"It's not been too bad today," he added. "We're quite pleased with how things have gone. We used a different setting here today from what we had in Mugello because we always try to do something to make the bike better."
