Trackhouse confirms Fernandez was hit with a piece of debris but will be able to rejoin the race

KTM insists the issues suffered by Bastianini and Acosta are unrelated, and Acosta will be taking the start on his second bike.

Tech3 is reporting that Enea Bastianini's bike suddenly stopped on track earlier in the race - an issue eerily similar to the one Pedro Acosta suffered later on lap 12

The exact race time has not been announced. But when the race does get underway again, it will run for 13 laps, with the order taken based on lap 11.

The ambulance has left the scene of the crash to take Alex Marquez back to the medical centre. We are still waiting for a full update on his condition

Di Giannantonio has managed to bring the bike back to the garage. He appears to be okay.

We have got some good news. Medical director reports that Alex Marquez is conscious.

We are still waiting for an update on Alex Marquez as he suffers a sizeable shunt after hitting Acosta's bike. To be fair to Acosta, he raised his hand as soon as he realised something was wrong, but Marquez had no time to react.
Looks like Raul Fernandez was also involved in the melee

Huge drama

Pedro Acosta suffers a major technical issue. Alex Marquez runs into him and one of the VR46 riders is involved too. The red flag

Lap 12

What a fight! Marquez is challenging Acosta but the latter is not willing to concede position

Lap 10

Marquez replicates Acosta's move on Fernandez and grabs second place. The trio are still running head-to-tail

We have got the DNF of the race. Enea Bastianini is out after a mechanical problem

Lap 9

Acosta back in the lead. The KTM rider gets his braking right this time out at Turn 1 and is ahead of Fernandez. Marquez is right behind the duo and this could be anyone's race.

Lap 8

It's no longer a two-horse race for victory. Alex Marquez is closing in on Fernandez and Acosta

Lap 7

Acosta makes a makes on Fernandez into Turn 1 but runs wide, allowing the Trackhouse rider to hold on to the position. The duo are eight tenths clear of Marquez

Big error for Bezzecchi at Turn 10. He goes straight on at the left-hander and drops to 12th behind Bagnaia

Lap 5

We have a new race leader. Fernandez passes Acosta with ease into Turn 1 to hit the front. Behind, Marquez has repassed Martin for third.

Lap 4

Both Martin and Marquez have passed Zarco. Meanwhile, Fernandez has suddenly closed the gap to race leader Acosta

Lap 3

And Zarco forces Marquez out wide, and Martin also takes advantage to pass the Gresini rider.

The order now is: Acosta, Fernandez, Zarco, Martin, Marquez. Marquez went from challenging for second to dropping to fifth

Lap 2

Acosta has stretched out a lead of almost eight tenths over Fernandez, who is now having to fend off second place from Marquez. Zarco is still fifth and ahead of Martin.

Martin made a brilliant launch from ninth on the grid to challenge Marquez for third, but made a mistake at Turn 10 and is now fighting with Zarco for fifth and sixth.

Bezzecchi is up to eighth on the other factory Aprilia

Acosta holds the lead at the start as Fernandez jumps from fourth to second. Marquez is down to third

And the Catalan Grand Prix is go! Only 21 riders line up on the grid following a late problem for Brad Binder

Earlier this afternoon, Manuel Gonzales beat Celestino Vietti to victory in Moto2. Moto3 honours went to the talented Maximo Quiles.

We are just waiting for info on tyre choices, but safe to say most would opt for the medium hard

There were a couple of significant contract news yesterday. Trackhouse confirmed that Davide Brivio will leave the team at the end of the year ahead of his expected move to Honda. But, more importantly, Joan Mir revealed his decision to exit HRC after 2026, having been left upset with the way the manufacturer kept him in the dark about its future.

We are just 10 minutes away from the formation lap. Who do you think will win the Catalan GP? Let us know in the comments section.

What can Aprilia achieve in the Catalan GP? That's a big question ahead of Sunday's race. Jorge Martin qualified ninth and Marco Bezzecchi could only manage 12th after both suffered crashes in qualifying. The best Aprilia on the grid would be Raul Fernandez aboard the Trackhouse-entered RS-GP.

However, to repeat his grand prix win in Barcelona, Alex Marquez will have to beat the in-form Pedro Acosta, who gave him a run for his money in Saturday's sprint. Just 0.04s separated the two riders at the chequered flag, the closest finish since the sprint format was introduced in 2023.

Marc Marquez is absent from the Catalan GP after undergoing surgery on both his foot and shoulder last Sunday. However, his brother Alex Marquez is in action - and is one of the favourites for today after winning Saturday's sprint. In fact, Alex beat Marc in an epic duel in last year's Barcelona round.
