125cc: De Rosa takes maiden pole at Mugello

Raffaele de Rosa took his maiden pole position in front of his home crowd at Mugello, ahead of tomorrow's 125cc Italian Grand Prix

Today's 30-minute session was run in dry conditions, meaning that yesterday's times, achived in the wet, were rendered effectively meaningless.

After the time had already expired, the KTM rider set his best lap of 1:58.302 immediately after Aprilia's Gabor Talmacsi took top spot from Derbi's Mike di Meglio, who had held provisional pole for the final four minutes of the session.

Talmacsi and di Meglio, both within two tenths of de Rosa's time, will start from the front row, along with Derbi's Pol Espargaro, whose time was good enough for fourth.

The following five grid positions will be held by Aprilia riders, headed by Sergio Gadea in fifth, Simone Cortese in sixth, Bradley Smith in seventh, Simone Corsi in eighth, and Nicolas Terol in ninth.

Smith was setting the fastest sector times in the final seconds of the session when he lost the rear, high-sided over his bike, and landed on his back, before sliding in the gravel.
