125cc: Corsi takes maiden victory

The pair finished with a two-second gap over third place Tomoyoshi Koyama, but except for the last few laps, it was a group of seven riders fighting for the lead.

Corsi and Olive, however, were the ones most often ahead, swapping the lead between each other several times.

The race was decided on the final turn of the last lap, when the Italian took advantage of a mistake by the Spaniard, and beat him by less than one tenth of a second over the line.

"I'm really happy about this maiden victory," said Corsi after the race. "It's my second-ever podium, I still can't believe it. It was a quite perfect race. I started well to try to stay ahead.

"The pace wasn't too quick, but when I saw Olive starting to build a bit of a gap I went to close it. I want to thank Aprilia as we had a really perfect bike."

Fourth place went to Raffaele de Rosa, fifth to Gabor Talmacsi, and sixth to Lukas Pesek.

Lorenzo Zanetti took seventh place and Briton Bradley Smith eighth after the two finally closed the gap to the main group of riders in the last couple of laps.

Andrea Iannone and Hector Faubel round up the top ten, with the latter going wide on the grass on lap 16 after a touch with de Rosa, after fighting for the top positions.

It was yet another race to forget for Mattia Pasini. After qualifying on pole position, the Italian stalled his bike on the starting grid but managed to re-start it.

On lap 4, however, he stopped by the side of the road while in the lead, with his chain coming off. He managed to put it back on but lost some 30 seconds, and rejoined the race in 30th place.

After a nice recovery taking him to 17th position, he finally had to retire on the penultimate lap with the chain broken.
