Magazine: Jenson Button on life after F1

In an exclusive Autosport interview, the 2009 world champion explains his motivation to take on so many different challenges, including the Le Mans 24 Hours and Super GT, since he retired from Formula 1.

Now 40, Button argues that driving modern grand prix cars does not prepare drivers for some other categories, while he points out that he is more involved with the Jenson Team Rocket RJN GT team than many might think.

Button was part of the big event on the UK national scene last weekend as the British GT Championship reached its climax at Silverstone. James Newbold was there to explain how ex-British Touring Car racer Rob Collard and Sandy Mitchell won a hard-fought contest to take the crown in their Barwell Motorsport-run Lamborghini.

We also look ahead by speaking to the five drivers who could take the 2020 BTCC title at Brands Hatch this weekend. Four-time champion Colin Turkington leads the ever-combative Ash Sutton by nine points, but Dan Cammish, Tom Ingram and Rory Butcher are also in the mix.

BTCC correspondent Marcus Simmons asked all five about their chances and approaches for the showdown, with some surprisingly varied results. A full report on the inevitable fireworks will appear in the next issue (19 November).
