In the magazine: What Hamilton's move means for the driver market

This week's AUTOSPORT magazine deconstructs the F1 driver market following Lewis Hamilton's news that he will move from McLaren to Mercedes next year. Plus all the latest news from the world of motorsport

Autosport Magazine

Autosport is the UK's must-read motorsport magazine! It is revered by fans and industry personnel alike as the ultimate source of motorsport news and analysis.

Lewis Hamilton's switch from McLaren to Mercedes for the 2013 Formula 1 season and the effects it will have on the future careers of Sergio Perez and Michael Schumacher made the headlines last week.

AUTOSPORT brings you in-depth analysis of F1's answer to transfer deadline day and assesses who might move elsewhere ahead of next season.

Rumours of Nico Hulkenberg replacing Felipe Massa at Ferrari, and the debate about who could take Perez's seat at Sauber - and Kamui Kobayashi's for that matter - are all discussed.

F1 2012's greatest circuit: Well it has to be Suzuka, doesn't it? And as it's the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend, AUTOSPORT enlisted the help of Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and more to tell us just what makes the 3.6-mile ribbon of tarmac so special.

WEC Sakhir: Audi bounced back from its defeat by Toyota in Brazil to take a one-two in Bahrain. As Gary Watkins explains, however, the Japanese manufacturer was certainly not vanquished.

World GT1 Donington Park: The championship was won by Munnich Mercedes duo Markus Winkelhock/Marc Basseng in the most dramatic of ways. Charles Bradley watched Winkelhock fire title rival Yelmer Buurman into the wall (and a Nottingham hospital) as matters were settled.

British F3 Donington Park: Jack Harvey beat his Carlin team-mate Jazeman Jaafar and Fortec's Felix Serralles to win two of the final three races of the year and become champion. Marcus Simmons watched it all.

DTM Valencia: Augusto Farfus became the series' first South American winner for 20 years, but the even bigger story was his BMW stablemate Bruno Spengler's recovery drive to sixth, slashing the championship gap to Gary Paffett to only three points ahead of the Hockenheim season finale. Jamie O'Leary reports.

Formula Renault 3.5 Paul Ricard: Ferrari F1 tester Jules Bianchi stole the lead of the championship from rookie sensation Robin Frijns and Mercedes F1 reserve Sam Bird thanks to a race two victory in France. Antonio Felix da Costa was also a winner, under the watchful eyes of Glenn Freeman.

F2 Monza: Luciano Bacheta made his long-expected Formula 2 title official at the historic Italian circuit as Swiss drivers Matheo Tuscher and Christopher Zanella triumphed just 20 miles from their national border. Ben Evans was there to see the action unfold.

World of Sport: All the action from the NASCAR Sprint Cup, British Rally Championship, Grand-Am, International GT Open, F3 Euro Series, Super GT and TTA.

Sports extra: It's that time of year again when the identities of the McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalists are made public. Get the lowdown on the chosen six; Jake Dennis, Jack Hawksworth, Josh Hill, Jordan King, Melville McKee and Josh Webster.

From the archive: A look back at the British single-seater scene in the late 1970s with Formula Ford 1600 legend Jim Walsh.

Race of my life: Mexican Adrian Fernandez was a regular winner in US open-wheel racing before turning his attention to sportscars. He recalls the win that trumps the rest from his CART days.
