Indianapolis Indy Lights: Jack Harvey gets first 2015 win

Jack Harvey led from flag to flag to pick up his first Indy Lights win of the season in the first race of the double-header on the Indianapolis road course

The Briton started from pole, stayed in front at the start, and was more or less driving around by himself for the entire race.

His only fright came late in the race when Felix Serralles performed a neat 360-degree spin and then stalled on the inside of Turn 1.

That threatened to bring out a full-course caution that would have eroded the substantial gap that Harvey had spent the past 25 laps building, but fortunately for him, the situation was managed under local yellows and he crossed the line 4.7 seconds clear of 8Star rookie Sean Rayhall.

"Hopefully it's the start of a good weekend," Harvey said. "Little bit of work to do tomorrow, but I'm really, really happy."

Ed Jones completed the podium after spending the latter half of the race holding off Carlin team-mate Max Chilton.

"It was a difficult race," said Jones. "At the start I think Jack was slowing down a lot and I couldn't have slowed down any more, so I don't know what he was trying to do.

"And then in the race every team had push to pass except our team. That cost us a lot down the straight, so we'll have to find out why we didn't have it."

Barber race winner Spencer Pigot was tumbled down the order after running briefly off track early on, but he still came out of the day in better shape than Juncos team-mate Kyle Kaiser and Juan Piedrahita, who were eliminated with damage from contact on the second lap.
