Scheckter joins Vision Racing

Tomas Scheckter will drive the second car at Vision Racing this season, the team confirmed

Vision was expected to expand to two cars since they fielded the South African at last month's official test at Phoenix International Raceway, where he posted the seventh fastest average lap speed.

Scheckter will join last season's regular Vision racer Ed Carpenter in the team, which is part-owned by Indy Racing League founder Tong George.

"I'm extremely excited to be with Vision, to be back in the Indy Racing League and to be back in the car," said Scheckter.

"During the off-season, I had been speaking with Tony about joining the team. Tony was thinking about increasing the size of the team; I had connections with a lot of the personnel on the team, and I get along well with Ed so it was a good fit.

"I'm excited to be here and I'm ready to help the team get some race wins."

Scheckter's previous race engineer from his time at Panther Racing, David Cripps, will fulfil the same role at Vision.

"Since we've worked together in the past, we have a good understanding of each other, and we've both been a part of a very successful team," Scheckter added.

"So, hopefully we can bring those experiences to Vision. Tony is serious about winning and that's what we want to do. That's what Ed and I will be shooting for this season."
