Ray takes pole in Texas
The reigning IRL champion Greg Ray is on pole for the final race of the season, Sunday's Excite 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway. But with Ray way down in 11th in this season's standings, it is the drivers who will start behind him that will decide this year's championship

Series leader Buddy Lazier starts Sunday's race from sixth, but his closest rival in the championship, Scott Goodyear, starts ahead of him in second.
However, with Lazier just needing to finish in 13th place to take the crown, Goodyear will be hoping to finish first and hope Lazier has some kind of problem if he is to nick to title.
