Rahal to focus on Indy race set-up

Graham Rahal says he will concentrate on race set-up in this week's Indianapolis 500 practice sessions, despite still needing to qualify for the race

The 19-year-old, who became the youngest winner in IndyCar history at St Petersburg last month, did not finish last weekend's qualifying session in the top 11, so does not have his starting position on the grid assured yet.

But he is keen to spend the practice sessions, which start later today, working on race set-up to ensure he doesn't lose ground to the drivers that have locked down their grid positions, rather than preparing a qualifying set-up for this weekend's session.

"We're going to focus on race set-up and come Saturday we feel pretty comfortable that we can be solidly in the field," he said. "We'll take a little wing out on Saturday morning and go for it.

"I think we really need to focus on having a good race car here. Of course qualifying is important, but the race is what it really comes down to.

"I feel pretty comfortable out there, obviously we need to find a little more speed, but I'm perfectly fine with it and I'm looking forward to the race."
