Panoz pair to get Indy chance
Sportscar stars David Brabham and Jan Magnussen have been offered the opportunity to race in the Indianapolis 500 by their team boss Don Panoz
Panoz owns Indy Racing League constructor G Force in addition to his sportscar team, and is looking at ways of allowing his two drivers - who broke Audi's year-long domination of the American Le Mans Series with a win in Portland last weekend - to make their series debuts at Indy next year.
"I've had discussions with Don," confirmed Brabham. "We are further down the road with this than last year."
In 2000, Panoz helped Brabham in talks attempting to secure the Australian an Indy drive with Panther Racing. And although that ultimately proved unsuccessful, one of Panoz's options would be to try and place Brabham and Magnussen with existing G Force teams.
Panoz could also set up his own team parallel to his sportscar operation and he is known to have had talks with Steve Horne, ex-boss of the Tasman Champ Car team, about a position within his organisation.
