Meira joins Rahal for Motegi
Indy Racing League regular Vitor Meira will join Team Rahal for next month's Japan Indy 300 race at Twin Ring Motegi
The 27-year old Brazilian has completed selected IRL races for John Menard's team over the past two season, but will switch to the Honda-powered No 17 Team Rahal Panoz G Force machine for the one-off event.
Meira, an ex-Formula 3000 racer and SudAm F3 champion, said: "I'm very excited to drive for Team Rahal. This team has been one of the best in open-wheel racing for many years and I'm looking forward to racing with the organisation."
The Japan Indy 300, on April 18, will be Meira's first start on the 1.5-mile Twin Ring Motegi track. "Driving with Honda power is a big plus for me too," he added. "I'm eager to get to Motegi."
Team boss Bobby Rahal, who announced his defection from Champ Cars to the IRL last week, has already signed Buddy Ruce and Roger Yasukawa.
He said: "Vitor is a talented young driver who was impressive in his performances previously in the IRL. I believe he will work well with Buddy and Roger at Motegi as we look to collect our first victory in the League."
