Franchitti aims to stay at AGR
Dario Franchitti says it is his top priority is to stay with Andretti Green Racing in the IRL next season, in the wake of speculation that one of the team's current drivers will have to make way for Danica Patrick
Patrick is rumoured to have signed for the double-title winning squad, although no official announcement has yet been made.
With Brazilian Tony Kanaan under contract and Marco Andretti, son of team boss Michael, also likely to stay, Franchitti and Bryan Herta look the most likely to have to make way should Patrick join the team.
The 33-year-old's contract with AGR expires at the end of this season, and although he admits he is talking to several teams, he is hopeful of negotiating a new one with his current employers.
"The top of my list is to stay right where I am, with Andretti Green," Franchitti said.
"I'm talking to a lot of different people right now. I want to make a decision at some point soon. Right now, I'm really talking to everybody, including certainly AGR about next year."
The Scot added that he had not been told of Patrick joining the team next season.
"I've heard rumours as has everyone else. That's all that I know about it right now.
"Racing year in, year out, people are in this situation, drivers swapping teams, who is going to drive for who, the silly season, that kind of stuff. It's no different than any other year."
