Forsythe to make Indy Lights return
Forsythe Racing plan to return to the IRL next season in the IndyCar Series' feeder championship, Indy Lights
The long-time Champ Car team withdrew from their proposed IndyCar campaign before the start of the season when they failed to raise the required budget to enter the unified series.
They have been running two cars in the former Champ Car feeder series, the Atlantic Championship, this season, though, and will expand the operation to join Indy Lights for 2009.
Forsythe won back-to-back Indy Lights titles with Greg Moore and David Empringham in 1995 and 1996.
"We're relishing the opportunity to return to Indy Lights," said Forsythe Racing vice president Neil Micklewright. "We have tremendous pedigree in Indy Lights and the level of competition is as high as ever as the series offers drivers the chance to prove themselves."
The team did not comment specifically on a future IndyCar return, but revealed that they are looking to expand their race programmes.
"We're once again in the thick of a title battle in the Atlantic Championship, while we're also looking to further bolster our race programs, starting with our Indy Lights announcement," added Micklewright.
