Enge Out for Two Races
Panther Racing driver Tomas Enge will miss the next two IRL races, according to the IRL medical services director
The Czech driver has now returned home to rest after his lap 28 crash at Nashville last weekend, where he sustained injuries to his T-12 and L-1 vertbra. He is described as being in a good condition.
It had been hoped that Enge would be fit enough to return at this weekend's Milwaukee race, after a statement from his Panther Racing said he had only bruised his vertbra and not fractured them as first feared.
However, according to Dr. Henry Bock, IRL senior director of medical services, Enge did suffer fractures in the accident, and his driving status will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks.
It will mean he will miss races at Milwaukee and Michigan before a possible return at Kentucky on August 14th.
Panther Racing could have at least two cars at this weekends Milwaukee race, however. Former IRL Champion Buddy Lazier rejoined the team to drive a third car for last weekend's Nashville race and is already signed up for Michigan, and would be the favourite to fill Enge's shoes at Milwaukee.
