Dare replaces Hattori at Foyt
Airton Dare, the 2000 IRL IndyCar Series rookie of the year, will replace Shigeaki Hattori at Foyt Racing, starting with this weekend's race at Texas Motor Speedway
Japanese driver Hattori's deal with the team only ran up until the Indianapolis 500, and it appears he was unable to find extra funding to complete the year. With team boss AJ Foyt unable to find another driver with sponsorship, he turned to Dare, who drove for the team last year.
The Brazilian will drive alongside rookie AJ Foyt IV in the team. "I think it'll be good to work with AJ IV, because we have a good relationship from when he used to change my right front tyre last year," said Dare. "We'll be able to exchange information, and I think that will help both of us out a lot."
Dare drove for the team in a third car for this year's Indianapolis 500, finishing 24th. The addition of the Brazilian bumps the field for this weekend's event to 22 cars.
