Castroneves Asks for Prize Money

Hornish Jr took home $111,400 dollars after winning yesterday's race, but Castroneves believes he is entitled to a share following the crash that put the Brazilian out of the race.

Polesitter Hornish Jr and Castroneves were battling for fourth place when they collided at Turn Two, pitching Castronevers into the wall. Despite the accident however, Hornish battled on to win the race.

Castroneves was quick to put the incident behind him:  "What can I say? I just hope Sam gives me half the prize money. It's a shame that he and I got together, but sometimes these things just happen.

"The good news is that Sam was able to win the race. It's too bad we weren't there at the end going for the win. Hopefully, today's result won't affect our chances in the points championship.
 
"We had everything in our hands and it's unfortunate that things ended up the way they did. Now we just have to turn the page and move on to Michigan."

Hornish Jr hasn't decided yet if the prize money is going to be split however.
 
"Tim Cindric, who calls Helio's race, said Helio would be okay with it if I split the money with him for the win. I don't know if that's going to happen or not.

"Well, we all have our own perspective. He got a run on me earlier in the race and let him go. I understand that it's later on in the race so he's going to give me a little less room. I got a good run, and I was beside him. He held me down tight. I was off the gas and turning as hard as I could.

"The fact that we had the problem on lap 185, that takes a little bit away from the win. I'd like to have everything go cleanly and just be able to go out there and win.

"I don't ever want to see that happen. I feel real bad for that guy. It's close racing, and you can't take it back. You've got to go out there and try and win it, and I was pushing it really hard there at the end."
